NEW EDITIONS A DANISH DESIGN HERITAGE RENEWED
Sibast Furniture works uncompromisingly to recreate Helge
Sibast’s design-led chairs, which are now being produced to
the same high standards of craftsmanship as when they were
originally created. This is embodied by Sibast No 7’ Lounge.
Loyalty to both craftsmanship and design has driving the 4.
generation of the Sibast family, Ditlev and Anna Sibast to
develop and add new elements to Sibast No 7. The couple
jointly created Sibast No 7 Bar and Sibast No 7 Lounge chair,
both of which are based on the dining chair’s iconic, moulded
back and angled rear legs. The affinity among the three –
dining chair, barstool and lounge chair – is obvious. Each
chair has a relaxed, embracing style and bears the signature
of Helge Sibast when it comes to extraordinary craftsmanship

A COMMITMENT TO PRESERVE AND CONTINUE THE DESIGN LEGACY
ANNA & DITLEV SIBAST
The sculptural dining chairs – Sibast No 7, No 8 and No 9 from 1953 – has become the hallmarks of
Sibast Furniture, and it is this same design heritage that has been re-established by the fourth
generation: Helge Sibast’s grandson Ditlev Sibast and his wife Anna Sibast. Although the Sibast family
lost ownership of Sibast Furniture for a while after Helge Sibast’s passing in 1985, the family retained
the right to his designs. So in 2013, the couple decided to re-establish his grandfather’s designs with
the same focus on craftsmanship and quality. Supplemented by a desire to tell new design stories and
add new perspectives on the timeless icons, new furniture pieces came to life where Sibast No 7
lounge and bar chair stands out as the two most significant.
